Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

  1. All manuscripts must be submitted online through the website of Regional Economies and Policies at www.regecon.org. Submissions via email may be processed only in consideration of Editors’ invitation and recommendation by one or more of the editorial board members.
  2. For double-blind peer-review, each manuscript should exclude any identifying information.
  3. For double-blind peer-review, each author should provide the following identifying information at www.regecon.org: 1) name and email address; 2) affiliation; and 3) acknowledgement (if applicable).
  4. Formats [All texts are to be Times New Roman, 12 points, except the title and the primary heading]:

  1. Title (maximum 25 words, Times New Roman, 15 points, bolded)
  2. Abstract (maximum 200 words)
  3. Keywords (three to five words)
  4. JEL classification codes (only for the article whose author wants the EconLit abstracting and indexing service at https://www.aeaweb.org/econlit after publication)

Main-Text Specifications

(Different to the Chicago Style, 16th Ed.)

  1. Citation: (Smith, 1776) for 1 author per publication. (Smith, 1776: 10, 1759: 10; Brown, 2010: 10) for 2 or more authors of different publications. Kotler, Haider, and Rein (2002: ix) for 3 per publication. Use et al. for 4 or more per publication.
  2. As for academic articles, 4,000 – 7,000 words is the recommended word count when including references.
  3. As for policy papers, 4,000 – 7,000 words is the recommended word count when including references.
  4. As for methodology articles, 2,000 – 3,500 words is the recommended word count when including references.
  5. The document, including the main text, should be single-spaced and justified (aligned on both sides) with the following font: Cambria and 9 points.
  6. Any headers or footers should not be used, except page numbers.
  7. Headings must be numbered consequtively  (1., 2., 2.1., 2.1.1, ..., 5., etc.) and the recommended format is as follows:
    1. Primary heading: capitalized, not bolded (Cambria, 11 points); e.g., 1. INTRODUCTION
    2. Secondary heading: not bolded (Calibri, 10 points); e.g., 2.1 Previous Studies
    3. Tertiary heading: not bolded (Calibri, 10 points); e.g., 2.1.1 The Neoclassical Economic Approach
  8. The margins should be 3 cm (top), 2.54 cm or 1 inch (left, right, and bottom) on letter-sized pages. This margin setup conforms with the basic settings in the page layout of Microsoft Word.
  9. The document, including the main text, should be word-processed and stored in the .doc format.
  10. Tables should be numbered consecutively with Roman capitals (e.g., Table I., Table II., Table III., … ) and the title must be placed above each table.
  11. Figures should be numbered consecutively with Roman capitals (e.g., Figure I., Figure II., Figure III., … ) and the title must be placed below each figure.
  12. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers (e.g., 1, 2, 3, … ).
  13. Mathematical notations should be aligned left using Equation Editor (in Microsoft Word) and be numbered with Arabic numbers in parentheses.
  14. Appendices should be numbered with the alphabetical order (e.g., Appendix A., Appendix B., Appendix C., …).
  15. The recommendable structure for the academic article, which may include the review article (with meta-analysis), is as follows:
    1. Introduction
    2. Theory or Literature Review
    3. Model(s) or Theory
    4. Analysis and/or (Further) Discussion
    5. Conclusion or Final Remarks
  16. The recommendable structure for the policy paper is as follows:
    1. Introduction
    2. Previous Studies or Current Trends
    3. Analysis and Discussion
    4. Conclusion
  17. The recommendable structure for the methodology article is as follows:

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided. The article in an online journal should include a doi (digital object idenfier) whereas the one in a print journal should not.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a Times New Roman 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
 

Copyright Notice

The copyright holder is the author and the Journal (Regional Economies and Policies) although in most cases the sole copyright owner is the Journal. The author can freely distribute his or her article via the Internet for non-profit purposes. Instead, any distribution that is associated with profit purposes should be made only after gaining permission from the Journal. Since the Journal is open access, it is usually not associated with profit activities unless it is published in a printed form.
